CAN BEA BARGAIN

Sellers exit hosting, rotate fleets, or free capital — secondary prices can undercut retail when the machine is real.

CASEMS-04VERIFY FIRST
CAN BEA TRAP

Fire-sale urgency, stock photos, and off-platform payment are how industrial buyers get emptied without ever seeing steel.

MARKETPLACE
SAFETY.

Marketplace inventory can be a bargain or a trap. Treat every secondary listing like a used industrial machine: verify identity, condition, and escrow flow before you release funds. This case file covers what the marketplace is for, how to verify a listing without theater, how escrow cues should behave, where shipping and intake go wrong, what to prove in burn-in before release, and the red-flag patterns that mean you walk — even when the discount looks heroic.

CASE BRIEF

SECONDARY IS A MARKET.
NOT A SHORTCUT PAST DUE DILIGENCE.

Buy and sell hardware or capacity-related listings that are not always factory-new store stock. Prices undercut retail when sellers exit hosting or rotate fleets — that part is legitimate. What is not legitimate is treating a dramatic discount plus vague photos as a reason to skip identity checks. If a deal sits far below store pricing for the same class with urgency tactics and no serial proof, walk away. Real inventory can wait for real escrow; fake inventory only needs you to hurry. Compare the listing against the store and against efficiency fields so you know whether the claimed TH/s and watts even make sense before you negotiate tone.

INSPECTION DOCKET

VERIFY THE LISTING
LIKE A USED MACHINE.

Match model name, claimed TH/s, wattage, and hours or condition notes against photos of serial labels. Ask for a powered telemetry screenshot dated recently. Prefer sellers with completed RAR history — brand-new anonymous accounts selling “warehouse sealed” units at fire-sale prices deserve extra friction, not extra trust.

PROOF BEFORE PAY
V1

SERIAL / MAC PHOTOS

Clear photos of serial and MAC labels must match the model in the text. Blurry crops, stock imagery, or “will send after payment” are not verification — they are delay theater. If the seller will not show the plate on the actual chassis, you do not have a machine yet; you have a story.

V2

RECENT HASHRATE PROOF

A powered telemetry screenshot dated recently beats a claim in the title. You want evidence the unit hashed near the advertised class under real power, not a brochure memory from six months ago. If proof is missing, assume the hashrate is aspirational until proven otherwise.

V3

HONEST COSMETICS

Bent fins, loud fans, replaced PSUs, and prior intake stickers belong in the listing notes. Surprises on the dock become disputes. Honest cosmetic disclosure is a positive seller signal; perfection claims on a used industrial chassis are often the opposite.

V4

SHIP OR INTAKE PLAN

Shipping to you or hosting intake into RAR must be stated up front. Blind drops to a facility without an intake ID leave the dock guessing and you exposed. Create the intake ticket before the carrier scans pickup when the unit is hosting- bound — see Hosting Basics for the corridor rules.

ESCROW WIRE

FUNDS MOVE ON PROOF.
NOT ON PROMISES.

Use platform escrow when offered. Funds should release only after confirmed delivery or confirmed hosting intake — not after a seller says “shipped.” Never move payment to personal wallets or off- platform chats because someone promises a discount; that is the classic exit-scam pattern. If a seller pressures you to bypass RAR checkout, end the conversation. Real inventory can wait for real escrow.

01FUNDS HELD

Checkout locks value inside platform escrow. The seller sees commitment without receiving spendable cash yet.

02SHIP / INTAKE

Carrier movement or hosting intake proceeds with tracking and ticket IDs — words alone do not advance the wire.

03CONFIRM

Delivery receipt or facility intake confirmation is the proof gate. “Shipped” screenshots are not the gate.

04RELEASE

Escrow releases per policy after proof — or enters dispute with evidence if material claims fail.

HARD RULE

Off-platform personal crypto, gift cards, or “friends and family” rails convert a recoverable escrow dispute into an irreversible loss. Discount pressure that requires leaving RAR checkout is not a negotiation — it is the scam.

SHIPPING & INTAKE HEAT

WHERE DEALS
BURN IN TRANSIT.

Agree who buys insurance and who files claims before the box moves. Photograph packaging on arrival. For hosting-bound units, refuse a blind drop without an intake ID — docks will not magically know your account. Most secondary-market pain is not exotic cryptography; it is logistics ambiguity that nobody wrote down while everyone was staring at the discount.

HIGH

No intake ID on a facility-bound shipment — dock confusion and orphaned freight.

HIGH

Unclear insurance responsibility — damage arrives and both sides point at the carrier.

MID

Tracking shared late — you cannot correlate “shipped” claims with actual movement.

LOW

Written ship-to-you or host-intake terms on the order with photos at arrival.

AFTER RECEIVE

BURN-IN BEFORE
FINAL RELEASE.

Power on — or wait for RAR rack-in — and confirm hashrate against the listing claim inside a reasonable burn-in window, then release escrow per policy. If the unit fails to meet material claims, open a dispute with evidence immediately; delays weaken your case. Save the order ID, serial photos, telemetry captures, and packaging shots in one place so Support is not reconstructing the week from chat fragments.

RELEASE / DISPUTEEvidence ready either way

The chart is a discipline aid, not a substitute for the escrow timers on your order. Material mismatch — wrong model, dead unit, hashrate nowhere near the claim — belongs in a dispute with timestamps, not in a polite private renegotiation that leaves the platform blind.

RED FLAG BOARD

WALK PATTERNS.
NO DEBATE REQUIRED.

FLAG · PRICE + URGENCY — Listing far below store for the same class paired with countdown pressure is designed to collapse your verification time. Slow deals survive scrutiny; rushed deals are often the product.

FLAG · ESCROW REFUSAL — A seller who will not use platform escrow is asking you to underwrite their honesty alone. End it. Inventory that is real can wait for checkout that is real.

FLAG · STOCK PHOTOS ONLY — No serials, no chassis plates, no recent telemetry means you are buying a mood board. Demand the plate or leave the listing.

FLAG · MODEL MISMATCH — Text says one SKU and photos show another. That is not a paperwork typo you negotiate through; it is a material identity failure.

FLAG · IRREVERSIBLE RAILS — Gift cards, personal wallet sends, or any rail that cannot be disputed inside RAR converts escrow protection into a donation. Treat the request as fatal even when the tone is friendly.

PRE-CLICK TAPE

BEFORE YOU FUND
A SECONDARY ORDER.

PRICE — Listing compared against store price for the same class so you know whether “deal” means discount or danger.

PROOF — Serial photos and recent telemetry collected before checkout, not promised for after payment clears.

ESCROW — Order stays inside RAR escrow or checkout; any request to leave is a hard stop.

TERMS — Shipping or hosting-intake terms written on the order, including insurance responsibility and intake ID when facility-bound.

BURN-IN — Plan to confirm hashrate against the claim inside the policy window, with dispute evidence ready if material claims fail.

CASE FAQ

QUESTIONS THAT SHOW UP
AFTER A BAD FEELING.

DOES STORE WARRANTY TRANSFER ON MARKETPLACE?

Not always. Check the listing text carefully. Many secondary units are sold as-is; some retain limited remaining coverage. Assume as-is until the listing and order terms say otherwise, and read warranty for how RAR frames covered defects versus secondary transfers.

CAN I HOST A MARKETPLACE PURCHASE?

Yes if the unit passes intake inspection and fits power rules. Approve hosting before you ship so the dock expects the serial. A marketplace bargain that cannot rack is just expensive freight with a dispute attached.

WHAT IF THE SELLER DISAPPEARS?

Escrow exists for this failure mode. Open Support with the order ID immediately and do not negotiate side deals that move money outside the platform. Side deals after disappearance are how a recoverable case becomes a story you tell later.

WHEN IS “TOO CHEAP” AUTOMATICALLY NO?

When the discount requires you to abandon verification, abandon escrow, or abandon written logistics. Cheap with proof and escrow can be a rotation sale. Cheap with urgency and opacity is usually the product being sold — your haste.
